Xenoblade Chronicles 2 released on December 1 of last year, and it is only now that we are getting some insight into its sales numbers. Despite heavy competition during the holiday season, Tetsuya Takahashi’s latest installment in the Xeno series managed to sell close to 500,000 copies. According to VGChartz’s estimates, the game sold 437,000 units in its first week. This does not account for digital sales. By all accounts, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 sales have been excellent, especially given the number of first-party games that have come out from Nintendo.
Breaking down by region, the game sold 159,477 units in the United States, 134,463 units in Europe, and 100,280 in Japan.
The first two Xenoblade games sold roughly 900,000 units globally, but this was on both a botched North American release (the first game) and on a dying system (the Wii U). If Xenoblade Chronicles 2 sells well over a million copies, which it is on pace to do, it would not only give the opportunity for a sequel but also a possible remaster of the Xenosaga series on the Nintendo Switch, if all stars align.
