Avengers: Infinity War has been the payoff fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been waiting for. Upon release, it will have been 10 years in the making, with hints here and there of a looming threat. Thanos has arrived, as has the Infinity War trailer.

The trailer does everything it’s supposed to do. It provides hints, but gives away no real spoilers. I had actually lost a little bit of faith in the Marvel films after the disappointing Captain America: Civil War, but maybe I was too harsh. Every film since has been spectacular. Anthony and Joe Russo did direct the best film in the universe, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and they are set to helm Avengers 4 as well. Avengers 4 is being filmed alongside Infinity War.

The suit looks much better in action than when showed in Homecoming.

With Thanos’ overwhelming power, heroes from all over are coming together for the first time. This is a culmination, as previously stated, of 10 years worth of work. Dr. Strange, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and more are coming together with our more well-known heroes. Even Spider-Man is getting in on the action with the suit Tony Stark offered him at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming.

The trailer ends with Thor, sporting an eyepach (reminiscent of his fathers), asking the Guardians of the Galaxy, “Who the hell are you guys?”. Thanos is the greatest villain the heroes of Earth have ever faced, and they’re going to need all the help they can get.

Can the Avengers win against such a daunting foe?

There’s so much to take away from the trailer that at this point it needs to be looked at almost frame-by-frame, but from the trailer alone it promises to be one of the best superhero movies of the modern era.

Avengers: Infinity War comes out on May 4, 2018, and is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo.
