Project Octopath Traveler, developed by Square Enix, was showcased as a main feature in today’s Nintendo Direct. They displayed more features and explained about how the game will function when it finally comes out. It describes how, depending which one of the eight characters you choose to play as, will affect how you play. If you play as the fighter, Olberic, you’ll be more aggressive than all the other heroes and have the ability to challenge almost everyone to a duel to accomplish your goals. If you choose to play as the dancer, Primrose, you choose to find missing people by seducing them to come back with you or you can allure your enemies to follow you into deadly traps.
Project Octopath Traveler is a working name as of now and has an HD-2D aesthetic. It is a traditional turn-based RPG developed by Square Enix and will use sprites as well as high-definition environments. Project Octopath Traveler will be coming out in 2018 as a Nintendo Switch exclusive, but Nintendo had a very special surprise in store for us.
Project Octopath Traveler is actually available to play right now as a demo on the Nintendo Switch, so be sure to check it out as soon as possible!
