I think I just died a little inside. After months of waiting, The Last Jedi theatrical trailer has been released. It did not disappoint. In fact, it did just the opposite: it increased hype for the film ten-fold. We finally saw Luke on-screen, and the most interesting thing is the fact that he seems legitimately afraid of Rey’s power.

We will post an analysis of the trailer later, but there were so many great moments. It gave us just enough to wet our appetite but at the same time it didn’t reveal too much. It did exactly what a theatrical trailer should do. Disney and Lucasfilm have been very protective of the plot of The Last Jedi, and Rian Johnson’s film looks like it could end up being one of the best Star Wars films of all time.

The trailer makes it seem like Luke and Rey are in fact not related, but considering he is truly afraid of her power, could she be an offspring of the Skywalker family after all? Luke says he’s encountered Rey’s level of power once before, but he never explicitly states who. It could be Kylo, or it could be his father, Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. We’ll find out on December 15 when The Last Jedi releases in theaters.
