The American company, Skydance Television, announced on Tuesday that they had received the rights from Kadokawa to make a Sword Art Online live-action television show. Laeta Kalogridis will be writing the script and will be executive producer alongside David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Marcy Ross, who all work with Skydance. Kalogridis seems excited to work on the project, saying that for years she had been inspired by the inventive and masterful storytelling that is consistent in the Sword Art Online series.

Skydance also mentioned that they’d be planning a virtual reality experience after the television show is released. The Skydance Media CEO said that the company would be planning on bringing multiple live-action extensions, so we might even see a live-action version of Attack on Titan, Tokyo Ghoul, and Log Horizon in the future.
