The Rogue One DLC release date has been announced for Star Wars Battlefront. The expansion will release December 6. It is the last in a line of DLC packs for the game. Those with PlayStation VR will also get to experience Star Wars Battlefront Rogue One: X-Wing VR free of charge.

The expansion pack is called Rogue One: Scarif and takes place during Lucasfilm’s upcoming film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The expansion will offer two more heroes to play as and feature four new maps. Scarif, one of the locations, is the tropical planet which is shown in the game’s trailers. Rogue One: Scarif is included in the game’s season pass.

This is an interesting choice for EA. Previously, they stated that only the Original Trilogy was canon. They weren’t going to use additional material in their games. This is a horrible idea. So many children watched the fantastic Clone Wars cartoon and Star Wars Rebels. These children also grew up with the Prequels. They have some fantastic battles, regardless of what you think of them as films. EA is limiting their user base, but even more so, they are going back on their word. Rogue One: A Star Wars story is not the Original Trilogy.

Hopefully this is an indication that they are reversing their ideology.
