No Man’s Sky will not require PlayStation Plus in order to play online. This news will undoubtedly make some players a lot more willing to pick up the title than they would before. A number of questions have been posed such as how much player interaction gamers can really expect from the title. This is currently unknown. Due to the massive scope of the game, player interaction in the open world could be quite low. The PlayStation Store has listed No Man’s Sky as a single-player experience.

While Sony has stated that a No Man’s Sky will not require a PlayStation Plus subscription, players will be expected to be connected to the internet if they want their discoveries to register on the universal atlas. This will allow players to take part in the persistence of the universe by naming the different planets and species they discover while exploring the vast exploits of space.

No Man’s Sky will release on August 9 for PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows.
