Nintendo has shared more details on Mario Golf: Super Rush for the Nintendo Switch via a press release. The game looks to be the best Mario Sports game in years, but that may just be my partiality to golf. It looks like it may play like Wii Sports golf, without the simplicity. Nintendo lays it out for us.

In the latest Nintendo Direct, we announced the newest installment of the Mario Golf series, Mario Golf: Super Rush. Let’s take a look at some of the information shared.

The Mario Golf series delivers a full-fledged golf experience. Observe the wind and terrain, take aim, and hit the ball!

With simple controls and an intuitive shot gauge on the right side of the screen, you can hit shots that would be extremely difficult on an actual golf course.

Mushroom Kingdom characters like Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Bowser are a staple of the Mario Golf series. Some characters have more power, while others may have better control—use these attributes to your advantage for some golf super play.

The Mario Golf: Super Rush game has familiar elements like the ones mentioned above, but there are also some additions. Let’s take a look.

Speed Golf

Compete to finish the hole in the quickest time in Speed Golf. Everyone tees off at the same time, then you must run through the course to hit the ball again. Then chase the ball again and hit your next shot! Repeat and aim to finish the hole as fast as possible with the fewest hits—it’s called Speed Golf for a reason.

In Speed Golf, not only do you have to read the wind and terrain like in regular golf, but you must also think on the fly. Strategically use dashes to outrun your opponents or use special shots to sabotage them.

Story mode

In story mode, your MiiTM character takes on the role of a novice golfer who must train and compete with Mushroom Kingdom characters to rise in the ranks. Improve your skills and level up with experience points earned through practices and matches. Then, allocate points to improve your golfer’s stats.

What else can you do with your developing Mii golfer and golf expertise? Use your Mii character from story mode in other modes and compete with others.

Motion Controls

This game supports both button and motion controls. With motion controls, hold the Joy-Con™ controller like a golf club and gently swing to hit a shot!

Moving your body to capture the sense of golfing is an immersive experience. It can be especially fun for those who want a more authentic golf experience or those who like to try something different. Remember to be aware of your surroundings and to allow adequate room around you during game play.

Golf alone or with others

Up to 4 players can join in the fun with both local* and online** multiplayer. Whether you want to immerse yourself into a solo golf experience or get your friends in on the action, there is a style for you.

The Mario Golf: Super Rush game for the Nintendo Switch system will launch on June 25, 2021.

Mario Golf: Super Rush comes out in June and we cannot wait for its release!
