Nintendo has posted a brand-new trailer for Skyward Sword HD for the Nintendo Switch that is four minutes long, providing a deep dive into the game unlike any other before. The new Skyward Sword HD trailer appears to be geared toward newcomers to the game, as it explains the basic premise of the plot of the game, as well as goes over both the motion controls and the button controls. The trailer explains the story, locations, and has brand-new footage of the HD version of the game that we haven’t seen before, which was thrilling. Nintendo is also making a huge marketing push with Skyward Sword HD. It’s no wonder no other Zelda titles were announced during E3 2021. It’s also obvious why Nintendo is coming out with Skyward Sword on the Nintendo Switch. There is a direct link with Skyward Sword, the first game in the Zelda franchise timeline-wise, and Breath of the Wild 2. This was obvious by the trailer shown of Breath of the Wild 2.
The new Skyward Sword HD trailer was spectacular. It had something for newcomers and those familiar with the game alike. It will draw a brand new audience into Skyward Sword, further pushing Zelda as one of Nintendo’s premier franchises on the Switch (even moreso than the franchise has been on past consoles.) Skyward Sword is one of, if not, the best entry in the Zelda series, and Skyward Sword HD, with its quality-of-life alterations, among other things, has a chance to cement it not only as one of the greatest games of all time but the best Zelda game of all-time. And yes, that includes Breath of the Wild.
Skyward Sword soars onto the Nintendo Switch on July 16.
