The Nintendo FInancial results for February 2022 are in. Nintendo has announced their financial earnings for February 2022 in a financial report. The Nintendo Switch has surpassed 100 million units, selling 105.34 million hardware units. The overall Switch sales during this period was 18.95 million units. The original Switch unit sold 11.79 million, while the Switch Lite sold 3.17 million, and the newly-released Nintendo Switch OLED clocked in at 3.99 million in sales, which is a feat considering the global semi-conductor shortage which has plagued the Xbox One X and the PlayStation 4. Nintendo has already released Pokemon Legends Arceus and are releasing an upcoming Kirby game, which many more games on the way. Splatoon 3 is on the horizon this year, as is the much-anticipated sequel to 2017’s Breath of the Wild in the Zelda franchise. Nintendo’s goal is to utilize these games to not only bring back older users but to use games that have already been released to entice newcomers in the console as well.

If Breath of the Wild 2 keeps on track to release this year, the system could see another humungous year, given that the original sold over 25 million copies and has a 25% attach rate to the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo keeps pumping one game after another and if this keeps up, there won’t be any need for a “Switch 2” in the near future.
