Publisher Nicalis, Inc has taken to the web to announce that the shooter, Ikaruga, will be coming to the Nintendo Switch. Taking on development for this is the acclaimed Japanese developer, Treasure. They have a great track record with hits such as Gunstar Heroes, Radiant Silvergun, and Guardian Heroes. Ikaruga is set for a May 29 launch.

Ikaruga originally shot its way onto the Japanese arcade scene in 2001. It later saw releases on the Dreamcast, Gamecube, Xbox 360, and Steam. This classic shooter will now be adding the Nintendo Switch to this slate. It has received numerous positive reviews and was even voted the third best shooter of all time, by IGN.

It will be released later on the Nintendo eShop for $14.99. Currently, it’s unknown whether or not there will be a physical version. Nicalis, Inc. has released a numerous amount of physical copies for the Switch, such as ones for Cave Story, Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap, and The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth. 

The game will join a packed month of May for the Nintendo Switch. Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze, Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition and Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection are releasing on May 4, May 18, and May 29 respectively. Gamers can also look forward to Nintendo’s upcoming E3 2018 showcase. Their presentation will take place at 9:00 am PT/12:00 pm ET on June 12.
