Famitsu has released their sales numbers from 2/8/21 through 2/14/21. As usual, Nintendo reigned supreme, taking the top spot in both hardware and software sales. In fact, once again, nine of the top 10 games sold were Nintendo Switch games. The only difference being this week, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury was at the top of the chart; Momotaro Dentetsu: Showa, Heisei, Reiwa mo Teiban! came in at number two; newcomer Little Nightmares II swept in at number three; Ring Fit Adventure fell to number four; and Animal Crossing: New Horizons slipped to number five, rounding out the top five. Four Nintendo Switch games over a year old found themselves on the chart. These include Pokemon Sword and ShieldSuper Smash Bros. UltimateRing Fit Adventure, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. On the hardware side of things, the Nintendo Switch sold roughly 110 million units in Japan. The PlayStation 5 came in a distant second, moving only 23 million units, approximately.

With yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, it will be interesting to see how the charts shape up midway through the year, as these are only the Famitsu sales from 2/8 through 2/14, which is very early in the year.
