It was only a matter of time before Xenoblade Chronicles 2 got its own character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Sakurai is said to be a huge fan of the game. Surprisingly, it wasn’t Rex who was the choice, but Pyra and Mythra who are the stars as the latest characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s latest fighting pack, as announced in today’s Nintendo Direct. Pyra and Mythra work very much like Sheik and Zelda used to work, as you are able to switch back and forth between them. Their attacks are, naturally, from Xenoblade 2, and are devastating in nature. Pyra and Mythra are god-like figures, so it’s only natural that their powers are as such.

Rex is included in each character’s Final Smash, and the stage for Xenoblade 2 appears to be on Gramps’ back, though it was hard to make out with so much going on. If so, this is a bit of a disappointment, as their are so many beautiful landscapes in Xenoblade Chronicles 2, but doesn’t ultimately affect the quality that Pyra and Mythra bring to the table. It’s uncertain where the two characters will sit on the character tier list, but that’s irrelevant at this point. It’s nice to finally have some representation for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 in Super Smash Bros.
