MAPPA took over Attack on Titan from Wit Studio and essentially saved the franchise from being canceled. Yet for some, this isn’t good enough. Many have forgotten how poor Wit Studio’s animation was at times, and they have become fixated on what they want, rather than what they are getting. These Attack on Titan toxic fans have flooded the internet, not only voicing their discontent with the final season’s animation and musical choices but have also been harassing the staff via Twitter and other means. This is unacceptable. A staff member from MAPPA has addressed this head-on, and a user on Twitter has translated the staff member’s Tweet.

COVID-19 has affected almost every industry. MAPPA is working under severe time constraints, especially with the manga ending in April. What’s worse is that the animation has been fine. The character models are somewhat different, but they are more true to the manga’s art style. Mikasa is supposed to look the way she looks, among others. The music has been fantastic so far, and has used Sawano’s music at key points for maximum emotional impact. The second composer, Kohta Yamamoto, has also done an excellent job. Toxicity gets us nowhere. Attacking staff gets us nowhere. Toxic Attack on Titan fans have flooded social media and are hurting those who genuinely love The Final Season.
So sit back, relax, and enjoy what’s coming, because I guarantee you the story is about to catapult its way into excellence, and this is coming from a manga reader. And isn’t that why we all watch it to begin with? Each Sunday is like a holiday for me, and hopefully, fans can come to appreciate the hard work MAPPA is putting into this final season.
