With the rumblings that Ocarina of Time will receive a remake or remaster for Zelda’s 35th anniversary, this is a perfect time to showcase what the game could look like on the Nintendo Switch. A YouTuber named SnazzyAl put together a trailer of the 3DS version of Ocarina in order to showcase what it could look like on the Switch. Yes, it would be a port of the 3DS version of the game, but that doesn’t take away from how incredible it would look.

Ocarina of Time Switch

“I took the best trailer I could find for it and actually downscaled it from 1080P (happens often where publishers will post it in higher quality than the video actually is) to 480P. Then AI upscaled it to 1080P from that 480P. Then AI interpolated it to 60FPS, as I think a higher frame rate is so needed if it were to come to the Switch.”

While to some an upscaled version of Ocarina of Time 3D may be a disappointment, it’s still much better than getting the original, ala Mario 64, upscaled in 3D yet looking essentially the same. Ocarina of Time is the greatest game of all-time and deserves better treatment than that. Ocarina of Time 3D would also fit rather well on the Switch, given that it was a portable game to begin with.

Regardless, the opportunity to play Ocarina of Time in HD on the Nintendo Switch brings an excitement not found since 1997.
