Bethesda’s new Doom was one of 2016’s most graphically beautiful games, things are only going to get better. Bethesda has just announced that the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X versions of Doom will receive 4K resolution. In addition to their announcement, Bethesda released a trailer for the 4K experience people can expect. Sadly, the 4K update will not be coming to the recently released Nintendo Switch version of Doom.
One of the main concerns of the 4K update is whether the game will still run up to 60 FPS. However, from the trailer alone, we can see that it seems to be the same 60 FPS action from before. So there should be no need to worry about cutting, shooting, and tearing Hell’s demons in console’s standard 30 FPS, even with the new update.
This is in stark contrast to the Nintendo Switch’s version of the game, which plays at 720p on portable mode and 1080p on docked mode. There is a huge dichotomy with Nintendo, sacrificing the power of their hardware in order to take a more innovative approach and the sheer power Sony and Microsoft have brought to the table.
Doom‘s 4K update will release for the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X on March 29.
