Hajime Tabata, the director of Final Fantasy XV, has been tasked with leading a new studio within Square Enix called Luminous Productions. Considering the incredible job he did with putting Final Fantasy XV together after the departure of Tetsuya Nomura, it’s only fitting that Square Enix is giving him this enormous responsibility. Final Fantasy XV has been a huge commercial success and is still adding content, with several more pieces of story DLC planned for 2018 and 2019. The Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition was released on March 6, including all the current DLC to date with additional improvements to the game.
It’s fair to say that Final Fantasy XV is getting better with every passing moment. Tabata is the perfect choice to lead a brand new team within Square Enix and give them a fresh face, as he has said he wants to work on something entirely new. Tabata took the mess that was Final Fantasy XIII Versus and managed to revamp it and make it into a stellar game.
Even though I personally didn’t like it so much at first, it has grown on me and the Royal Edition makes the game a million times better. With the upcoming Ardyn DLC, along with several other story DLCs planned, including a possible one for Luna, the game will go down as one of the best Final Fantasy games ever.
If anything, this proves more than anything that Tabata deserves this special opportunity, and he is sure to accomplish amazing things and lead a new era at Square Enix.
