The latest Media Create sales numbers are out from Japan. The Nintendo Switch is dominating Japan once again, selling almost 125,000 units, just down from last week by about 20,000 units. The closest competitor is the PlayStation 4, which sold about 20,000 units. The 2DS LL sold decently with almost 21,000 units. After that, there’s a significant drop-off, and the Xbox One continues to sell abysmally.
- Switch – 124,770 (145,200)
- PlayStation 4 – 25,163 (20,384)

On the software side, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 opened at number two on the charts, selling almost 100,000 copies in just three days. This is up from Xenoblade X’s first week sales, which totaled roughly 85,000 copies, and Xenoblade Chronicles, which sold 83,000 copies during its first week. Xenoblade 2 finished 2nd on the software side, with Pokemon, continuing to dominate. There are only six games on the list that are not Nintendo titles out of 20, showing that the Nintendo Switch is dominating Japan in both hardware and software sales. Whether it eventually reaches PlayStation 4 heights is unknown, but it will probably surpass the Wii.
It’s also worth mentioning, Xenoblade Chronicles was released on a Thursday and Xenoblade X was released on a Wednesday. That means their first week sales that were accounted for took place over four and five days respectively.
Nintendo may have a hit on their hands with Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
