Gamescom 2016 officially opens its doors in a few days, but EA has kicked off the event early by releasing a brand new gameplay trailer for Battlefield 1. With some breathtaking footage of naval combat, horseback skirmishes, and biplane dogfights, this Battlefield 1 Gamescom trailer shows off the gritty action that the Great War shooter aims to deliver.

The new Battlefield 1 Gamescom trailer primarily presents encounters within the game’s Arabian Peninsula map, inspired by the Middle Eastern theater of World War I. One can see just how many approaches to combat the game will offer, as players can traverse the warfield on horseback, provide aerial support from a biplane, or encroach on the enemy as an iron-clad machine gunner.

Set to Johnny Cash’s “God’s Gonna Cut You Down,” the trailer also demonstrates the dangers inherent in the WWI combat of Battlefield 1. Over the course of a battle, players may find themselves confronting a moving train, face-to-face with a battalion of tanks, or in the midst of sandstorm thanks to the game’s dynamic weather systems.

We even get a small glimpse at Battlefield 1‘s single-player campaign, with a presumed antagonist threatening to end “the legend of Lawrence of Arabia.” This statement, of course, refers to the classic World War I film of the same name, which follows the exploits of a heroic British Army lieutenant.

Battlefield 1 is set for release October 21, for Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
