Yoshinori Kitase, a writer on Final Fantasy V, is interested in remaking the title. It has long been regarded as a stellar entry in the Final Fantasy series and was released in 1992 for the Super Famicom System. Square hasn’t done a re-telling to date, which intrigues Yoshinori Kitase. The game didn’t come to the United States on the GameBoy Advance until 2006 in the form of Final Fantasy V Advance. The game is known for its Job System and ATB battle system, both evolutions of former Final Fantasy games. Kitase had this to say.

(Laughs) Ok, so first of all, you have to promise you’re not going to write an article saying Square Enix is remaking Final Fantasy something, something… It’s just a purely personal opinion, just so you understand that. With that caveat in place, the first Final Fantasy that I worked on myself was Final Fantasy V, that hasn’t been remade with the more realistic kind of approach yet, so I think it might be quite interesting to do a FF5 remake someday”.

Classic Final Fantasy (the Super Nintendo Entertainment System games) are some of the best RPGs of all-time, and it would be wonderful for a new generation of fans to be able to play the game in a reformated matter.
