The anticipation (or a part of it) is over. Bethesda announced this morning that the next installment in the Fallout franchise is Fallout 76Fallout 76 will be shown at Bethesda’s E3 Showcase, BE3, on June 10 at 6:30 PDT. The game sets place in Vault 76, which was mentioned in Fallout 3‘s Mothership Zeta and Fallout 4. The company also released a brief trailer of the game as a lead up to their BE3 event.

Whether or not this is a proper entry in the franchise or not is unbeknownst so far, but although no weapons are shown in the trailer, there is a Pip-Boy present. By all accounts, the game takes place a good 200 years or so after Fallout 4. The Vault seems relatively new and not in ruins like we see in Fallout 3, New Vegas, and Fallout 4.

The vault dwellers are celebrating “Reclamation Day”, which makes perfect sense considering the vault opened just 20 years after the war. As opposed to the scavenger-like downtrodden days of the previous games, in Fallout 76 people still appear to be hopeful, as the vault doors are opening for the first time. They’re celebrating. They’re in for a rude awakening.

It’s unknown if this is some quasi-Sims game or a proper Fallout game. In all likelihood its the latter. All will be revealed though at BE3 on June 10, 2018, at 6:30 PDT.
