Tomorrow Nintendo is hosting a Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Nintendo Direct at 6am PDT. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is Tetsuya Takahashi’s latest installment in his long-standing Xeno series which began on the PlayStation and was originally going to be Final Fantasy VII (Xenogears was). Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is not directly related to the other games in the Xeno series, but it is one of the most promising games of the year. As a huge Xeno fan, I can’t wait for Takahashi’s next odyssey for the Nintendo Switch. While Xenoblade X was fantastic, I can’t wait to a return to a more narrative-driven title like the original Xenoblade Chronicles and the Xenosaga series.

Hopefully the direct will delve into a bit of the story. Takahashi is famous for his religious references and his Jungian references (see Xenosaga, and essentially Xenoblade Chronicles which took a lot of inspiration from the former.) Monolith Soft is a top-notch developer and Xenoblade is on par and has maybe even surpassed Final Fantasy is recent years. There is no doubt in my mind that the direct will reveal more about the game, and given that the Zohar is inscribed on the chest of the Blades, it’s quite possible there’s more of a connection to the former Xeno games than we think.

Stay tuned tomorrow morning to VGCultureHQ while we cover the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 direct!
