Streets of Rage 4 is the first entry that the series has seen in 25 years. The iconic beat ’em up sees its main characters, Axel and Blaze, return to action alongside a new character, Cherry Hunter. Graphics in this title are all hand-drawn and animated by the team behind Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap. New power ups, moves, and mechanics are also set to appear. Its electronic-dance soundtrack is set to feature multiple legendary composers that have worked on the original games in the series, in addition to games such as the Kingdom Hearts series, Jet Set Radio, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Shenmue, just to name a few.
Limited Run Games is known for giving previously digital-only titles a physical release. Titles such as Golf Story, Celeste, Divinity Original Sin 2, and even Jak and Daxter have all been able to see a hard copy of itself. The company originally started with PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4 versions but have since expanded to Nintendo Switch and PC.
Although a definite release date for the game has not been announced, its planned to launch in 2020. DotEmu’s upcoming indie title will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
