Star Ocean: The Last Hope initially came out for the Xbox 360 in 2009 with generally positive reviews. It was later released as well on the PlayStation 3. Square Enix has announced a “4K and full HD remaster” of the game for the PlayStation 4 and the PC. The resolution on the PlayStation 4 will be 1080p, while the PC and PlayStation 4 Pro will have access to 4K resolution. While the remaster is currently only slated for Japan and is only being released digitally, this could easily change. North America has gotten almost every Star Ocean game and the series is fairly popular here.

While the prospects of it coming to America aren’t horrible (it was originally an Xbox 360 game after all, which was a failure in Japan), the game I really want to see re-made is Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. This was the best game in the series and one of the best RPGs to come out on the PlayStation 2, which was stacked with amazing RPGs. After Till the End of Time, the series went downhill in a major way and it still hasn’t recovered. The latest entry in the series, Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness came out in 2016 on the PlayStation 4 to abysmal reviews. The series needs to be revitalized and perhaps a remaster of one of its better titles, The Last Hope, will do just that.

(Though we’re still dreaming of a Till the End of Time remake!)
