Xbox’s E3 2019 press conference brought fans an announcement for Phantasy Online 2. The popular Japanese Online RPG is coming to the West for the first time on Xbox One. Sega revealed that the game would feature cross-play and launches on Spring 2020. Take a look at the trailer below:

Phantasy Star Online 2 will be a free-to-play experience for Windows PC and Xbox One. The game’s description is as follows:

“The story of Phantasy Star Online 2 takes place in the year 283 of the New Light. The space fleet Oracle travels between worlds, with the organization known as ARKS acting as the fleet’s vanguards, who were once a team of researchers. Upon discovery of the Darkers, however, they began to use what they knew to develop photon weaponry to combat the coming darkness.”

Sega’s latest was released in the East back in 2012 but has never found its way to Western audiences. For the East, it was released for PlayStation 4, Vita, and even received a mobile spin-off. In a Japanese Nintendo Direct, it was revealed that the game would be available for streaming on the Nintendo Switch. Its release date on Switch came in April of 2018 but not for the West. An unofficial English version was available for Japanese PCs, yet still a blockade for fans looking to play it.
