Yesterday it was announced at the Tokyo Game Show that Final Fantasy IX, one of the most highly-regarded titles in the franchise, would be released for the PlayStation 4. In fact, you can purchase it right now on the PlayStation Store.
This is actually incredibly exciting for me. I never played Final Fantasy IX. I was actually hoping for a remaster, since we’re already getting VII (hopefully someday), got X and X-2, and we got XII. The original has its charm though. This will also allow Square Enix to gauge their sales numbers for the title to see if a remastered version of the game would even be financially viable. Regardless, this is great news for Final Fantasy fans as they can now play at least six games from the franchise on the PlayStation 4 (!!!!). I can’t wait to play this title in particular for myself.
Now if they would only release Xenogears…
