The Breath of the Wild 2 release date has allegedly been leaked. According to a retailer, Gameware.at, Breath of the Wild 2 will release in the second quarter of 2021 for Nintendo Switch. It feels like we’ve played this song and dance before though. Previously, there were credible leaks that the game would come out in late 2020. This was obviously never meant to happen, as Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity came out in November of 2020. Nintendo would never pit two Zelda games against one another, especially considering Age of Calamity tells the story everybody always wanted: the events from 100 years before Breath of the Wild. This wouldn’t be the first time a retailer leaked a release window for a game though. It cannot be simply discounted, but at this point, it must be taken with a grain of salt. This would follow the pattern set by Breath of the Wild, as it released in March of 2017, and was not a holiday title. It’s anyone’s guess when the game will come out, but in all likelihood, it will be released next holiday season to maximize sales. Hopefully, before that, we get a Zelda HD collection to celebrate the franchise’s 35th anniversary, similar to what they did with Super Mario 3D All-Stars. It’s more likely that would come out in the second quarter of this year, and Breath of the Wild 2 will be Nintendo’s holiday title of the year. While this is an alleged leak, regardless of when it comes out, Breath of the Wild 2 will surely fail to disappoint.
