The release date for Attack on Titan’s penultimate chapter, chapter 138, has been announced. Attack on Titan‘s next chapter will be released on March 9 in Japan, with a simultaneous release online in North America through Crunchyroll and other avenues. The penultimate chapter, or episode of any TV series, is usually not only a setup for the finale, but where major events happen, usually with a major cliffhanger at the end. Attack on Titan has been a 12-year journey, with the first chapter releasing in 2009. Chapter 138 is the second-to-last chapter of the series, with the final chapter coming out in April. As the final chapters are releasing, the anime is also wrapping up, as Attack on Titan: The Final Season began airing in December. The Final Season has been met with critical acclaim, aside from a few toxic fans, ranking as the second all-time greatest anime on MyAnimeList behind Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and having three episodes in the top 20 television episodes of all-time on IMDB. With the epic ending of chapter 137, it will be interesting to see where the final two chapters go. If Hajime Isayama has taught us anything, it’s to expect the unexpected. Attack on Titan has become a worldwide phenomenon and will go down in history as both one of the greatest anime of all-time and the greatest manga of all-time. Once again, the Attack on Titan 138 release date is March 9.
