The NPD results are out for January and it was a strong month for Nintendo. Even with the holiday season, they still sold the most units in the United States, according to the NPD group. Although the Switch enjoyed this success, they still fell short in dollar sales to the PlayStation 4, who sold slightly more in dollar amount. There was just a 3% different between all three consoles. This makes sense though, because of the Switch’s low price point. It would be more interesting to see software sales figures. Regardless, this is a wonderful achievement for the Nintendo Switch.

With Bayonetta 2 just coming out, and a brand new Kirby game releasing soon, as well as Nintendo’s Labo which is coming out in April, the Switch has a strong lineup for the rest of the first half of the year which is bound to bring in more console sales. If Pokemon releases this year, sales will explode and Nintendo may not be able to keep up with demand considering how dedicated Pokemon fans are. Regardless of that, sales are looking strong for the Switch and if they continue at this pace they may just surpass the Xbox One by the end of the year in sales.
