EA has just unveiled the first gameplay footage for the upcoming Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order. The footage was shown off during the company’s EA Play event, which kicks off the festivities of E3 2019. This nearly 15-minute coverage displayed various new mechanics the title has to offer, as well as lightsaber combat. Take a look below:
Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order’s demo opens with the protagonist, Cal Kestis, on the forest planet of Kashyyk. Advancing to the next destination takes platforming, featuring rope swings, wall runs, and climbing. This is extremely reminiscent of Respawn Entertainment’s previous franchise, Titanfall. The footage continues and features a shot of Saw Guerrera from Rogue One as he goes over the objective for this particular section.
Combat-wise, Kestis is able to utilize the force to slow down time in order to get past enemy shots and attacks. Lightsaber throwing, dodging, and combos all look to make an appearance in this next title. Skill points can also be earned to advance the Jedi’s powers and move-sets. These combat sections look to have different types of attacks and motions done, so it doesn’t appear to be the same thing over and over, which was a problem with The Force Unleashed series. Another tidbit that’s worth noting is the inclusion of a boss fight against an insect-like creature, showing of enemy variability.
Respawn Entertainment’s upcoming game is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated titles coming out this year. Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order releases on November 15 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
