Late last year it was revealed that Paramount Pictures was producing a live-action/animation hybrid adaptation of the Sonic The Hedgehog franchise, courtesy of director Jeff Fowler. Due to hit theaters in the holiday season of 2019, Variety is now reporting that James Marsden will be starring in the film. Typically video games don’t fair well in the movie-making business, but in recent years Hollywood has been going all-in in producing films that may attract the gaming crowd. This is the only blockbuster video game adaptation from this studio, but their competition are churning out some can’t-miss title. Hopefully they don’t find themselves late to the party, fortunately the Sonic franchise has found past success on television so it might very well be the big hit they need.
